Special Thanks

There are very special people in all our lives. Those with whom we are able to share things about ourselves that we otherwise keep hidden, locked away, out of sight. People who embrace all that we are, who want to share all that we are, who encourage, who teach, who care. People who do not laugh or cast scorn or ridicule or criticize.

A couple of years ago, I met the most wonderful lady. Without her help, encouragement and love, Lauren would still be deeply buried in the closet, though, truth be known, the closet would have far fewer items of feminine clothing! For, not only has she embraced Lauren, she has also gifted her with loads of wonderful skirts and dresses and pants and tops and items of jewelry!

She was there for Lauren's first tentative steps out in the world, encouraging, sometimes prodding, a gentle shove here or there. Lauren's first weekend away was with the her, as she was on several other weekends away. She attended numerous "Coffee Hours" with Angie's support group from Elmira. She was was always close by, supporting, encouraging and ready to protect if need be. She smiled at the uncertainity, overlooked the awkwardness and supported through the insecurity. Indeed, her presence provided all the security that was needed. And when Lauren ventured out alone, she was there to share the joy and hear all about the adventures. And, I know there will be many more adventures to come with her. She has become my best friend, my confidant, the person who makes my life the most enjoyable and complete.

The expression, "Thank you", seems inadequate. But, it is a heartfelt, deep and true sentiment. Without you, Kitty, Lauren would not exist.

A special Thanks also to my dear friend Kari who embrassed Lauren from the first time she met this part of me. Kari, you have a wonderful heart, so very understanding and accepting. Thank you also for forgiving my own insecurity.

Thank you also to some other transgendered ladies I have recently met in New York who were welcoming, who embraced me and are so very kind. In particular, thank you to Willinda, Faye, Angie and Anna. You are all truly wonderful and I am honored to have met you all.

Lauren
